Want to compete with Kijiji? Just ask!
Do you like this story?
When some of the big whiners on the Kijiji Canada forums complain about the rules, or ask why Kijiji banned them for only breaking four or five rules at once, some of the regulars tell them to go start their own site if they really think it'll work.
This writer at Drupal.org seems to think it'd be easy to do Kijiji better than Kijiji:
Hello,
I am looking to make a site that is similar to kijiji, where the site gives give users the ability to buy and sell merchandise, not like kijiji i want to add a chat box where user may negotiate and a map where people can pinpoint a meeting place, and more.
I would appreciate any good examples, or tutorials about making classified sites.
my idea is to incorporate a search engine similar to Google which gives search results similar to the word the user typed. ex. you are looking for an i phone and type iphone, you get results for i phone, i phone 3g and such.
also, i would like to have a chat room where a seller and buyer can talk about the product, and if i can get a way you can get a block where you can send emails to the seller, or a tab which connects you to a contact screen with the sellers e-mail on it.
and if there is a way people can use google maps to show where they would like to meet.
I would appreciate any good examples, tips, or tutorials about making classified sites.
