Kijiji Policy Update: Kijiji Canada personal ads removed

Many wondered when this would come, and it has come with no warning.

Kijiji Canada is getting out of the personals game:

We have decided that Kijiji Canada will no longer offer personals categories such as 'relationships, dating' and 'casual encounters'. This decision was based on feedback we've received from our community of users, as well as our decision to focus on more popular categories such as cars & vehicles and buy & sell. We apologize if you used Kijiji Canada for these categories in the past, and hope you will continue to use Kijiji in the future for other purposes.

Forum moderator Nanagoo reminds users not to try to get around the ruling:

Please do not attempt to post personals ads in any other category as they will be removed. Furthermore, the following types of Ads are prohibited on the site:

* Ads that contain any sexual or pornographic content. This includes:
o Nudity in posted images
o Descriptions of a sexual nature
* Ads that offer sex or sexual activities in exchange for money, products or services. Prostitution is not allowed.

So, if you want your hookers, anonymous sex or credit card scams, you'll have to go elsewhere. I imagine a lot of internet spam artists are very very upset about this one today.

OTOH, we'll have far fewer freaky freaks to bring you at!'s Personals category now invites users to visit

This sucks. What ever happened to our freedom to communicate.
you've turned into the federal police for the government dictating to us, the people again what we can and can't do see and not see. Make a communist country and then we'll know up front what freedoms we don't have instead of people like you and others all of a sudden listening to what big Brother wants. Inventing rules as you go along.

No one is forced to go on internet they chose and now you make yourself Judge and Jury on behalf of a minority of the people. Where is the democratic right of the people. Go ahead trample on free expression, speech and now writing of the people. That's how Hitler worked.
