Kijiji paypal scams: Lisa Macedo and Mary Cole are fake!

I'm seeing an awful lot of traffic here lately from people looking for information on Kijiji paypal scams. People are thankfully suspicious enough about the people offering to buy their stuff that they search the names of the senders. They end up hear learning about the fraud they just avoided.

If you get an email from a Lisa Macedo, or a Mary Cole, or Julie Chen or any of the other made-up names offering to buy your item without seeing it, asking you to ship it because they're in a foreign place and can't see what you're selling, it IS a scam.

I'm not saying it might be a scam or that you should proceed with caution. I'm saying it's a fraud, it's baloney, it's entirely bogus and you should absolutely not proceed.

According to comments on a post from YouSuckatKijiji.com more than a year ago, some of the fake names used over and over again by these scammers include but are not limited to:

Julie Chen or Julie-mansor Chen - juliechen1983@gmail.com or chenjulie0@gmail.com for example
Mike Goodrich - MikeGoodrichw1@gmail.com
Veronica Wilson - veronicawilson1236@gmail.com
Charlie-Carter Morgan
Mary Cole

Here's the sort of email you might get:

"Thanks for the response Does it need anything to be replace or repair?if theirs please specify,i will take it for the listed price,Payment will be sent using PayPal and i will handle the PayPal surcharge as well.I will arrange with someone to have this picked up for your location once i have paid as i am out of town at the moment. I would appreciate if you email me with more pictures (if available) too,since i won't be be able to see this in person,what's the PayPal email to send funds to in order for me to pay you ASAP. "

If you landed here because you searched for any of the text above: congratulations. You're the target of fraud.

You might also get a Paypal offer by text message for your Kijiji listing. Be smart. Don't fall for it.

Remember: Deal in person. Deal locally. Use cash.

Understand? If you ship to someone you don't know without having real cash money in your hand, you are a fool. Don't do it. These scams are easy to avoid. Avoid them.

Then I did a search and found this site. I have received an email WORD FOR WORD, even the same spelling mistakes as mentioned above in the messages you might get. Obviously the same person. I have reported the email, but unfortunately, this will not catch the bastard. All we can do is let others know. Again, the name EMILY SYNTIRE. Be careful.

Anonymous said... January 6, 2014 at 2:12 PM I have also been scammed by this scam creep. I went as far as setting up a PayPal account (although I felt something was not quite right) and then when "she" sent the mailing info it said Nigeria and she wanted the answers to my confidential questions. I immediately deleted the pay pal accounts, changed all my passwords and contacted Pay Pal for investigation. I now am getting bogus invoices from "her" saying I owe her $600 and the FBI will be investigation and charging me if I don't pay up. What a piece of work this "Emily" is. Add Keshia David to this list as well.

I just sent her a legit paypal invoice, and I'm waiting for the reply where she claims she needs some extra payment...is it wrong to toy with these people?

Follow My Lead - Contact Police said... January 29, 2014 at 10:22 AM I've received many of these emails in the past as I move a lot of products thru Toronto Kijiji. Last night I received and email from "Emily Syntire <emilysyntire123@gmail.com" asking the standard cut and paste bad spelling/bad grammar request for my PayPal account info. I contacted the Toronto Internet Fraud division but they said there is nothing they can do about it. What the fuck do you mean there is nothing they can do about it I asked! It's fraud, and it's on the internet. MAYBE IF PEOPLE START CALLING THE POLICE THEY WILL BE FORCED TO DO THEIR JOBS AND CATCH THESE MOTHERFUCKERS! REPORT THEM IN TORONTO HERE: 416-808-2222

We texted back and forth for a bit, but I still wasn't quite comfortable about the distance. This is the first time I have used kijiji and only just found out from my daughter that it is a local buyer/seller setup, so then I obviously got suspicious and sent "Parker" a text saying I sold the piano locally. I thought because they were talking of payment through Pay Pal that it was legit, but I guess the scammers have found some way around that too.

You can open an account with them on www.paypal.com and when you open it, we transfer the money to your paypal account with the email you used to open the the account with them. As soon as we send the money to your account, then you can transfer it to your bank account or your credit card. She could've got me very easily. When comparing same to a real NS drivers licence they forgot to place a signature under the photo, there is no expiry date and the date of birth is listed in two places....and you guessed it they were not the same. One 1966-11-07 and one 1966-06-20. Then in the email portion I was given the phone number of her husband 920-309-6695 (according to my search this number is listed in De Perre Wisconsin - with Verizon Wireless; but in another area the number is claimed for India). the email used is angelinapaul2002@outlook.com

I'll not be able to come for the inspection my self due to present Job location but i have a Pick-Up agent who will be contacting you about when and where the pick-up will be taking place after have completed the payment transaction with you my self .
